The logic is explicitly stated in the ceremony's liturgy — you wear the institution, the institution does not wear you. The robe itself is a deep burgundy over cream lining, constructed in a layered silk-analog with Ouroboros's ouroboros-serpent motif woven in a self-color pattern visible only under UV light. The weight is moderate; the construction is precise. A single platinum-thread numeral on the interior lining records the number of times the robe has been worn in prior ceremonies — a number that grows with each use and is considered a mark of the robe's significance.

Senior executives who have worn the robe sometimes describe the ceremony's final moment — when the robe is removed and returned — as clarifying. A few have described it as humiliating. Ouroboros considers both responses appropriate.
