Crucible HeatWall Forge Apron MK-6
A heavy split-front forge apron favored by Tier 2 foundry workers and Shelf scrap-smelters alike. The outer face is thick ceramic-fiber mat bonded to a carbonized kevlar weave, deep char-gray with heat-bloom discoloration patterns across the chest and lap from prior use. The inner contact layer is moisture-wicking aramid fleece.

Adjustable ceramic buckles at neck, waist, and thigh allow fast don/doff. The lower half splits at a central seam for mobility. A built-in tool channel runs along the right hip. Designed to be worn over standard workwear.

materials
  • ceramic-fiber mat
  • carbonized kevlar weave
  • aramid fleece inner lining
  • ceramic composite buckles
  • reinforced riveted edge binding
functionalityRated to 1,200°C radiant exposure. Split-front lower half preserves full leg mobility at the forge. Tool channel accommodates tongs, rods, or a small extinguisher. Ceramic buckles don't conduct heat. Apron edges are triple-riveted to resist slag splash tear-through.
what it saysSomeone who works close enough to molten metal to know exactly how hot it runs.
worn by
  • foundry and smelter workers
  • Shelf scrap forgers
  • Tier 2 industrial fabricators

story hooks
  • The char pattern on a particular apron matches the blast signature of a smelter explosion that officially never happened.
  • A Shelf forger has been using their apron's tool channel to move something other than forge equipment between shifts.
  • The ceramic buckles on a batch of MK-6s are counterfeit — they conduct heat at exactly the wrong moment.

physical description
visual profileA heavy-duty split-front forge apron with a pronounced angular silhouette. The garment hangs straight and utilitarian, with visible heat damage and discoloration creating organic mottled patterns across the torso. Despite industrial wear, it reads as purposeful and protective—a second skin for high-heat work.
fitOversized and loose-fitting, designed to be worn over standard workwear without restriction. The split front allows full leg mobility. Adjustable at three points (neck, waist, thigh) for secure positioning during movement.
primary materialCeramic-fiber mat bonded to carbonized kevlar weave outer layer; aramid fleece moisture-wicking inner contact layer
textureRough and slightly singed outer surface with visible heat-bloom discoloration; the ceramic-fiber mat has a slightly chalky, textured finish. Inner aramid fleece is smooth and soft by contrast. Overall impression is tactile and weathered.
color schemeDeep char-gray base with irregular heat-bloom discoloration patterns—lighter charcoal and cream streaks across chest and lap from sustained thermal exposure. Natural wear creates organic striping.
closuresThree ceramic buckles: neck, waist, and thigh. Fast-release design for emergency doff. No zippers or magnetic snaps—purely mechanical.
distinctive features
  • Split front design for mobility and heat dispersal
  • Built-in tool channel along right hip
  • Ceramic fiber outer bonded to kevlar—genuine thermal protection, not cosmetic
  • Heat-bloom discoloration patterns indicating authentic heavy use
  • Ceramic buckles instead of metal (non-conductive)
  • Designed for layering over workwear
tier indicatorTier 2-3 functional. The apron itself is Tier 2 quality (durable, purpose-built), but worn by both corpo foundry workers and street-level scrap-smelters, indicating cross-tier utility.
cultural contextWorn by foundry workers, smelters, and dangerous-trade laborers in the GLMZ. Signals skilled manual work, heat-industry experience, and practical toughness. The wear patterns are badges of competence.
condition typicalWeathered and well-used. Heat-bloom discoloration, minor fraying at the split seam, possible small tears patched with reinforced aramid tape. Never pristine—this is a working garment.
