Their lacquered silk blouse is a ready-to-wear offering — which at Dawngate means a limited run of forty per season, hand-finished. The silk is a cultivated Chinese-heritage strain crossed with a lab-grown fiber that gives the weave a particular drape: heavier than standard silk, with a subtle structured memory that holds a fold without stiffening. The 'lacquer' refers to the finishing process — a thin botanical resin application that gives the fabric a deep, almost wet-looking sheen in dark jewel tones. The collar is a wide mandarin-to-open-neck hybrid, and the cuffs are single-button with a hidden pleat that allows full wrist range of motion.
