11.2mm Tungsten-Composite Resonance Slug TCS-11
The TCS-11 is a purpose-built projectile for the Arcturus Defense Solutions BRC-6 platform, engineered from a sintered tungsten-carbide composite matrix with an internal resonance cavity that amplifies the acoustic pre-charge generated by the carbine's barrel assembly. Upon firing, the slug exits the barrel already vibrating at a frequency matched to the target material profile selected by the operator, converting what would otherwise be a conventional heavy-caliber impact into a resonance-amplified structural failure event.

The slug's composite construction is layered: an outer jacket of hardened tungsten provides penetration mass, while the inner cavity contains a lattice of piezoelectric micro-crystals that sustain the resonance frequency imparted by the weapon's pre-charge cycle. This means the slug continues to vibrate for approximately 0.3 seconds after impact, propagating fracture waves through whatever material it has embedded in. Against personnel in hard armor, the effect is devastating — the slug does not need to fully penetrate the plate, because the resonance propagation shatters the plate from within.

Manufacturing tolerances are extreme. Each slug must be frequency-matched to its intended weapon within 0.02 Hz, which means TCS-11 rounds are sold in weapon-specific lot batches rather than universal boxes. Using a slug calibrated for one BRC-6 in another produces degraded performance at best and barrel fracture at worst. This has created a black market for 'frequency-hacked' slugs with adjustable resonance cavities, though these are notoriously unreliable.

compatible weapons
  • Ballistic Resonance Carbine BRC-6 'Kettledrum'
variants
  • TCS-11 AP (extended resonance cavity, +40% fracture propagation)
  • TCS-11 Subsonic (reduced velocity, suppressor-compatible, degraded resonance)
  • TCS-11 Tracer (phosphor-tipped, visible flight path, compromises stealth)
  • TCS-11 Practice (inert resonance cavity, range use only)
cultural contextTCS-11 slugs are one of the few ammunition types in GLMZ that are individually serialized by the manufacturer. Each slug carries a micro-etched lot number traceable to a specific weapon and a specific procurement contract. On the black market, this makes them simultaneously valuable and dangerous — valuable because they work, dangerous because every fired slug is a forensic breadcrumb. Smart operators file the lot numbers, but the resonance cavity micro-crystals also carry a frequency signature that Arcturus can match to a production batch. The only truly clean TCS-11s are the frequency-hacked variants, and those have a documented 8% catastrophic failure rate.
story hooks
  • A forensic team recovers a TCS-11 slug from a collapsed building support column — the lot number traces to a military shipment that was officially destroyed in transit, but the frequency signature matches an active-duty Arcturus field team's weapon.
  • A street armorer claims to have cracked the frequency-matching problem for TCS-11 slugs, offering universal-fit rounds at a premium — but early buyers are reporting barrel fractures and at least one hand amputation.
